In recognition, Theo, of your brilliant advocacy on behalf of new Zealand’s freshwater ecosystems in the successful campaign to prevent the introduction of channel catfish and keep marron crayfish at bay.

An environmental disaster was prevented from happening because of your research, lobbying, publicity and your passionate belief that the decision to introduce catfish was terribly wrong and had to be reversed.  After others had given up any hope of stopping the catfish introduction, your inspired advocacy led to the successful joint national campaign by the Federation of Freshwater Anglers and Forest & Bird.
